The HerbStick Product Review
When I got asked to review the new HerbStick vaporizer by Ciggo I very happy to help and after giving the unit a good 2 week test I can very confidently say that this is going to be a very popular hand held vaporizer for 2015.
When you first pick up the HerbStick you can tell that it is very well made with a aluminium alloy body, with the herb chamber located under the mouth piece and in the center of the unit there is one simple on/off/temperature selector.
The herb chamber can hold around 0.3-0.5g of ground material and the unit has a battery life of 90-120 minutes from a full charge which took 3 hours to fully charge after being totally depleted.
Lets take a look at what you get in the box with you unit then onto my favorite stage the testing!
• The HerbStick vaporizer unit
• USB to Micro USB cable with separate wall charger
• High quality stir tool
• Metal cleaning brush
• 5 Pipe cleaners
• 3 Extra silicone mouth pieces and 3 extra O rings
• Warranty card
• Instruction manual
Operating the Herbstick
This is one of the simplest vaporizers that I have come across to operate and if you are new to vaporizing more specifically handheld vaporizers this would be a great handheld vaporizer to get you started.
All operations for the Herbstick are controlled by one button located on the front of the unit.
To turn the Herbstick on simply hold down the control button for 3 seconds, your unit will flash a white light 5 times then go into 1 of 3 colors which will indicate how much charge you have left
White-50-100% (remaining power)
Blue-20-50% (remaining power)
Red-0-20% (remaining power)
You now have a choice of 6 temperatures to choose from. To alternate between temperatures is very simple just click the control button 2x which will start your Herbstick heating up to your desired chosen temperature. The temperatures are displayed by a flashing color which goes to a stable color once the right temperature is reached. Here is the temperature ranges your Herbstick will operate at along with the color your unit will show
Cyan-160°(C)-320°(F)
Blue-170°(C)-338°(F)
Green-180°(C)-356°(F)
Purple-190°(C)-374o(F)
Yellow-200°(C)-392o(F)
Red-210°(C)-410°(F)
To reach your desired temperature takes roughly 60 seconds and 30 seconds between temperature changes.
Now onto the testing phase
After getting my HerbStick charged which took around 3 hours I ground up 0.4g of UK Cheese and was ready to go. The unit is very easy to fill, just pull of the top mouth piece and you are greeted with a really nice size herb chamber. I filled the chamber close to the top, packed quite lightly so some air flow can get around my herb and popped the top back on, that’s it job done and ready to get vaping.
I like to vaporize my cannabis at 350-400°(F) so I turned the Herbstick on by holding the control button for 3 seconds then set the unit to the green setting 356°(F). The unit got to temperature in roughly 60 seconds and time to vape.
On this setting I was getting really nice flavour from my herbs but very little actual vapor so after 4-5 hits I decided to up the setting to the Purple setting 374°(F) and give my material a good stir by rotating the mouthpiece (The Herbstick’s mouthpiece is also a filter, a stir stick and the silicone attachment feels really nice when inhaling on the unit).
Now that I have the unit on a higher temperature setting I start to get some nice hits from the Herbstick whilst retaining the flavor of my herbs, but still not thick vapor clouds I have come to expect from other units. I was getting medicated just the same as I would from a unit that produced bigger vapor clouds so the unit was working as it should.
I decided to go up to the maximum temperature 410°(F) and that did get me really nice vapor hits but the flavor was lacking compared to the lower settings. With this specific vaporizer I think you will get thinner vapor just as effective as thicker vapor hits whilst retaining the flavor of your herbs. After running the Herbstick for 10-15 hits through the three settings I decided to have a look at my material and to my surprise there was still quite a lot of material left. So I reset the unit to the Purple setting 374°(F) and got another 7-10 decent hits from the unit giving me around 20 good hits total from one bowl (0.4g) and still no burnt popcorn taste but the material was spent.
This unit is very well designed all around, there has gone a lot of hard work and research into making this unit which has produced a very nice portable handheld vaporizer!
Due to the Herbsticks unique design the heat that the unit create’s dissipates very fast so your unit never gets too hot to hold which has been a problem for me with other handheld vaporizers in the past!
This is going to be a very popular vaporizer for 2015 and if you would like more information on the Herbstick please visit www.ciggo.com who will be more than happy to help with retail and wholesale inquiries.
Thank you to Ciggo for letting me test this unit and for taking customer service to the next level!
